- Q: Can I give my invitation to a friend/co-worker?
A1: We’re sorry, invitations are non-transferrable
A2: You may refer someone to be invited: Info [at] stirr.ca … including a link to a LinkedIn profile and title improve the chances of that person being invited.
- Q: Who gets invited?
A: Founding teams of early stage technology startups are the core focus. Angels, VCs, Press, and a handful of startup-friendly service providers are mixed in.
- Q: I’m bizdev/sales for startup X, how come I haven’t received an invite?
A: Non-core members of startups need to be accompanied by founders.
- Q: How long has STIRR been around?
STIRR USA launched in April of 2006. STIRR Canada launched in May of 2008.
- Q: Do you sell/share any of the applicant information?
A: No, we never reveal any of the information you share with us without your expressed consent.
- Q: What if I received an unwanted solicitation from someone who claims they met me or heard of me through STIRR?
A: Please foward the entire text of the message to ‘Info [at] stirr [dot] ca’ and we’ll make sure they stop.
- Q: I’ve asked to sign up for STIRR Canada but I haven’t been invited to an event?
- A: For the events, STIRR’s primary focus is on founding teams of early-stage internet, enterprise and mobile startups. We also bring together some of the ecosystem to support the entrepreneurs (investors (angels and VCs), recruiting, bizdev from larger firms, media, etc).
- Q: How do I get invited?
- A: The first step is to apply to become a member of STIRR Canada and create a STIRR account. Please complete our application form here.
- Q: I’m a VC, but I haven’t founded a company. How can I attend a Founder’s Table dinner?
A: Please contact us for sponsorship information by emailing: Sponsors [at] stirr.ca
- Q: How do the companies get chosen for stage time?
A: The STIRR Canada team evaluates each company based on relevant customer pain, good distribution strategy, and how likely stage time is going to be of help to the company. There is often a backlog for applications so please apply in advance of your company launch if you’d like to launch on the STIRR stage.
