Meet a local group of tech startup founders and funders for a networking dinner with Garrett Camp, co-founder of the ’social search’ phenomenon StumbleUpon — at Calgary’s inaugural STIRR Canada Event.
This dinner is an invitation-only event.

Garrett was completing his Masters degree in Software Engineering at the University of Calgary when he and some friends co-founded StumbleUpon in 2001.
In May of 2007, eBay acquired the company for US$75 million. By then, millions of users were “stumbling” across great content on the Internet and sharing their finds. TechCrunch recently reported that StumbleUpon has registered its five millionth user.

He shared a great hack at STIRR USA’s FounderHacks III (talk video is here), but if you’d like to know more about Ev Williams there’s a great writeup about accidental entrepreneurship in the December Economist.

A big thank you to everyone who attended in person and online. All told we had about ~250 at the venue and we’re told perhaps a hundred or more on Sara’s channel on Justin.tv. A round of thanks to Munjal Shah, David Weekly, David Marks, and Ted Rheingold for four outstanding short talks and to Talktiva, Gigya and Satisfaction for demos. A shout out to the bub.blicio.us crew for video. Since everyone helped with tickets we’re going to continue to move towards upscale events in quieter venues. Video and more photos as soon as we get them. If you’re uploading to flicker please tag ‘em ‘founderhacks‘ and ‘stirr‘. We’ll post the talk video and more photos from the event soon.
Just in: the Mercury News coverage of Silicon Valley Networking featuring STIRR. We’re on the front page of the business section.
